Who Benefits
People invest in Cowichan United Way because they know that their contribution will go a long way. With your support, we are able to provide funding to over 90 local programs and services throughout our community. The people helped by these funds could be your neighbours, friends, colleagues...or even you.
Currently, Cowichan United Way helps support 18 non-profit organizations. In addition we facilitate donor designated requests. During the early spring following the annual fall campaign, the board of directors allocates its funds based on set criteria.
Counseling the bereaved; offering comforting advice to seniors; providing anger-management tools for hurting families; matching children of single-parent families with supportive adult friends; teaching life-saving techniques; establishing in-school mentoring programs; ensuring vital resources are available to individuals and families. Professionals and thousands of volunteers are helping to build our community by making it stronger.
Did You Know That With Your Dollars:
- 5,698 adults and 4,564 children in Cowichan access food bank services each year.
- 250 children take part in an affordable summer camp.
- 150 children receive speech pathology, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
- 33 families a month are helped with obtaining food through a food coupon program.
